The UK now requires clinical trial results reporting by law. The Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) (Amendment) Regulations 2025, in force from 28 April 2026, require sponsors to publish a summary of results within 12 months of the end of the trial. This is the first time results reporting has become a legal requirement in the UK. Non-compliance may constitute an offence under the regulations, although the MHRA has stated that criminal prosecution is a last resort.
